Erasmus „FETS 2022“ – Diary Turkey 19th September – 24th September 2022

Sunday 19th September

The German team arrived in Antalya on Sunday evening and were picked up by the Turkish team. We had an overwhelming welcome by our hosts.

Monday 20th September

In the morning the international group was picked up at the hotel and taken directly to school where the headmaster Mr Kenan warmly greeted everyone.

An eventful day with numerous excursions awaited us. The main topic of the exchange week was „water“ and „recycling“. We first visited the impressive and beautiful Düden waterfall and then werde tuen guided through Antalya’s waste water facility. The technical insight was extremely interesting.

After a lunch break, the afternoon consisted of visiting a recycling center. The sight of the sheer volume of plastic waste was impressive for everyone involved and made us think about our own consumption behavior.

Tuesday 21th September

On Tuesday, we left at 7:30 am to go to Kekova. Students and teachers collected garbage on the beach together and then spent time in the great and incredibly beautiful place before going on a boat trip. The highlight was for sure, when we dropped anchor and went swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. Next, we visited the Church of St. Nicholas and the ancient city of Myra. The day was rounded off by dinner together in a beautiful restaurant located in the middle of the forest. Here we were able to enjoy fresh fish and talking about the day. A special and impressive day came to an end.

Wednesday 22th September

This day was mainly devoted to our garden contest. The students worked hard on their gardens for the gardening contest on Friday.

The rest of the day stood at our free disposal.

Thursday 23th September

In the morning we visited a private school in Antalya.

We got interesting impressions of everyday school life and were then taken to the Antalya Museum, where the exciting history of our host city is exibited. Teachers and students then spent the afternoon together on the most beautiful beach in Antalya.

Friday 24th September

On Friday morning the winner of the garden contest was determined. There was a tie. Each country had planned and presented a great garden. Afterward gifts and certificates were handed out and farewells were given.

We had a long day ahead of us, because the return flight left at 4:30 a.m. and we had to leave at midnight, due to the chaotic conditions at the airport.

Saturday 25th September

Around noon we arrived back in Bielefeld again with great memories in our luggage. We had great weather, warm hosts and amazing impressions of nature and how worthy of protection it is. We look forward to further projects with our great partners.
